WarioWare: Move It! – A Hilarious and Absurd Party Game for Nintendo Switch

superadmin

When I was 11, I looked ridiculous playing WarioWare: Touched! on my Nintendo DS. Now, thanks to WarioWare: Move It!, I can share the shame with friends. This satirical party game for the Nintendo Switch brings back the absurdity and fun of my childhood.

WarioWare: Move It! is the second WarioWare title to release on the Nintendo Switch. It takes advantage of the Switch’s Joy-Cons to deliver fast-paced and ridiculous minigames. While the motion tracking of the Joy-Cons may not be perfect, the game still offers a creative and entertaining experience.

The game starts with a goofy storyline setup, typical of the WarioWare series, before diving into the Story mode. Each stage follows the same format as previous titles, with a dozen levels and a Boss Stage. The microgames in Move It! are absurd and hilarious, requiring you to perform funny stances and moves. They may seem simple, but they are challenging to figure out in the short time given.

Move It! introduces Joy-Con stances, which add an extra layer of complexity to the gameplay. You must hold specific poses using the Joy-Cons, such as squatting or mimicking an archer. Figuring out the stances quickly becomes crucial as the microgames speed up and become more difficult.

The Story mode consists of 13 stages, including Remix stages and a Final stage that combines all the stances and microgames. While the solo Story mode can be completed in under two hours, Move It! truly shines in its multiplayer modes. There are various options for PvP and co-op play, as well as mirroring and imposter games for four-player parties.

However, playing with friends can be frustrating at times. The microgames are incredibly fast, and it can be challenging for newcomers to grasp the gameplay mechanics in such a short time. The Galactic Conquest mode offers a more balanced experience, where winning more games doesn’t guarantee victory. This mode adds an element of chance and strategy to the gameplay.

One drawback of Move It! is the limitations of the Joy-Con motion tracking. The controllers need to be held in a very specific way for accurate movement detection. Even the slightest angle can disrupt the tracking, leading to mishaps and frustration. It may take some trial and error to find the optimal positioning for the Joy-Cons.

Despite these issues, WarioWare: Move It! remains a creative and entertaining addition to the series. It delivers on its promise of fun and lighthearted gaming sessions with friends. So gather your friends, embrace the absurdity, and get ready for a hilarious party game on the Nintendo Switch.
