The Version 4.2 update of Genshin Impact introduced the highly anticipated Fontaine Archon quest, which has been hailed as the greatest quest in the game so far. The quest’s success can largely be attributed to the character Furina.

Initially, many players had a negative opinion of Fontaine when she was first introduced. However, even her detractors now agree that she is the “greatest archon yet,” despite not being a true Archon.
The climax of the Fontaine Archon quest revealed that Furina was never actually an Archon, but rather assumed the role to deceive Focalors and prevent a prophecy from coming true. Her backstory is incredibly tragic, but her determination and strength have won over the entire community, making this quest the highlight of the storyline.
One player described the quest as “the greatest experience” they’ve had in Genshin Impact. They also expressed a complete change in their perception of Furina, now considering her the best Archon seen in the game so far.
Furina, known for her eccentric and dramatic personality, initially garnered many haters. However, she has managed to win over almost everyone, with players even claiming she is “way better” than the actual Archons, despite being human.
One player admitted regretting their initial dislike of Furina’s personality. This sentiment seems to be shared among many who initially dismissed her but now adore her.
Genshin Impact has featured five Archon quests tied to different regions, but the overwhelming love for the Fontaine Archon quest surpasses anything seen before in the community. Players are stunned, saddened, and in awe of the developers’ work in Version 4.2, particularly in Furina’s storyline.
One Traveler remarked, “She truly pulled off an unforgettable performance and masquerade, and is now getting the rest she well deserves,” referring to Furina and the epic conclusion she delivered.
The writing of the Archon quest and Furina’s storyline is so exceptional that many players, including myself, shed a few tears. The revelation that she had spent years alone, pretending to be a god while being just a human, all to save people who despised her, was beautifully tragic and showcased outstanding writing.
Another player who was moved to tears believes that Furina is the best-written character in Genshin Impact thus far.
The finale of the Fontaine Archon quest tugged at our heartstrings and reminded us why we love Genshin Impact so much. A fan of the game declared that this quest was “easily the best we’ve had” and reignited their excitement for the future of the game.
Fontaine’s Archon quest was my personal favorite, and it seems that the community shares the same sentiment. It will be interesting to see what miHoYo has in store for the Pyro region of Natlan.
