Others shared the same sentiment, deeming the costume “pretty lame” and uninspired to the point where it almost appears fake. Players are urging Niantic, the game’s developer, to put more effort into designing costumes, suggesting even simple additions like a matching tuxedo suit or a top hat would greatly improve the appearance.
One player even compared the Costumed Dragonite to the Marine Style Dragonite costume in Pokémon Unite, noting the stark difference in creativity and attention to detail. They praised the military-style clothing in Unite, which featured intricate buttons, pockets, medals, and a perfectly matching hat.
Players are hopeful for more imaginative and detailed Costume Pokémon in Pokémon Go, similar to those found in Pokémon Unite. However, their expectations are not high following the release of this lackluster Dragonite costume.
Pikachu has had numerous cute and fancy costumes, such as the Rock Star Pikachu. However, for other Pokémon, the costumes are often simple, consisting of hats or flowers on their heads. Nevertheless, players still consider these costumes to be a step above the leaked Costumed Dragonite, especially considering the ill-fitting sunglasses.
