Rockstar Games is breaking its own rules with Grand Theft Auto 6 by introducing the youngest character ever seen in the franchise. This marks a significant departure from their previous strict no-child policy. The information comes from an internal source at Rockstar Games, as reported by Rockstar Universe.
The upcoming game is rumored to feature Lucia as the main protagonist, who is not only female but also of Latina origin, adding another first for the franchise. Unlike previous GTA games where protagonists had adult children, Lucia’s child will be much younger and will make appearances in cutscenes. However, the child will not be playable or involved in any missions.
This decision to include a child character in GTA 6 is a notable shift in the series’ storytelling approach. Rockstar Games has traditionally avoided including children in their storylines due to the mature and controversial content of the game.
While other mature Rockstar Games titles like Red Dead Redemption and its sequel have included children in cutscenes, this will be the first time a child character is introduced in the GTA series.
In GTA 5, Michael De Santa had two children, Tracey and Jimmy, who played a part in the story. However, they were not young children but rather young adults in their early twenties.
It is worth mentioning that the beta version of GTA III was rumored to have children walking around the streets with their parents, but they were ultimately removed from the final game to avoid potential controversy.
The inclusion of a child character in GTA 6 is groundbreaking news, as it has never been done before in the series. It will be interesting to see how Rockstar Games handles this new addition without causing any unnecessary controversy.
