Marvel Snap’s latest season, inspired by Ms. Marvel, is unveiling its first weekly card today, and it brings an intriguing addition to the game. Meet Gladiator, also known as Kallark, a character who may not be widely recognized in the Marvel universe but has had notable appearances in Guardians of the Galaxy and X-Men storylines.
Gladiator’s role in Marvel Snap is still uncertain, as he offers a unique ability that could fit into various deck strategies. With a low cost and high power of three/seven, he provides excellent value. However, his ability adds an element of risk to his gameplay.
Upon revealing Gladiator, you have the opportunity to add a card from your opponent’s deck to their side of the location. If this card has less power than Gladiator, it gets destroyed. This ability opens up possibilities for synergies with other cards, such as Sauron and Zero, where Gladiator can be used strategically to remove their abilities.
Gladiator could also find a place in Silver Surfer decks as another strong three-cost card. Additionally, in Junk decks, he can be utilized to fill the enemy’s side of the lane, preventing him from triggering his On Reveal ability.
However, playing Gladiator comes with a gamble. While there is a good chance of pulling a weaker card from the opponent’s deck and destroying it, there is also the risk of revealing a powerful card that becomes a free play for the opponent. Furthermore, if you are facing a Destroy deck, Gladiator’s ability might inadvertently benefit the opponent more than yourself.
Although there are ways to manipulate Gladiator’s On Reveal ability to your advantage, deciding whether to invest 6,000 Collector’s Tokens in this card requires careful consideration.
Regardless of his gameplay implications, one thing is for sure—Gladiator sports an impressive mohawk that adds to his cool factor.
