If you enjoyed the changes made to World of Warcraft’s season two Mythic+ dungeons, you’ll be pleased to know that not much has changed in season three. Blizzard seems satisfied with how season two went and has decided to keep things the same for season three. The only change affecting affixes is that the Sanguine affix will no longer stack damage when players switch between pools or puddles.
In season two, Blizzard made several changes to the affix system based on player feedback. These changes made clearing Mythic+ dungeons easier, but not too easy. It’s important to remember that these dungeons were never meant to be a walk in the park, and simplifying mechanics too much could diminish their appeal.
While the affixes remain the same in season three, there are new Mythic+ dungeons to look forward to. The patch notes reveal that players can enjoy dungeons such as Dawn of the Infinite: Galakrond’s Fall, Waycrest Manor, Atal’Dazar, Darkheart Thicket, Black Rook Hold, The Everbloom, and Throne of the Tides.
Here is a breakdown of the affix rotation for season three:
– Affixes at level two: Fortified and Tyrannical
– Affixes at level seven: Spiteful, Raging, Bursting, Bolstering, and Sanguine
– Affixes at level 14: Afflicted, Incorporeal, Explosive, Entangling, and Storming
To tackle the different affixes, it’s important to adjust your strategy, talent builds, and approach to Mythic+ dungeons each week. Here are some tips for dealing with each affix:
– Tyrannical: Save your important cooldowns for dungeon bosses, as they will have more health and deal more damage. Use personal defensive cooldowns to support your healers.
– Fortified: Use your cooldowns on challenging trash packs, as the Fortified affix empowers trash mobs.
– Afflicted: Heal or dispel friendly souls spawned during combat to prevent them from casting Afflicted Cry, which reduces everyone’s Haste by 100 percent.
– Incorporeal: Interrupt or use hard CC abilities to prevent Incorporeal beings from reducing damage and healing by 50 percent.
– Volcanic: Move away from Volcanic Plumes to avoid being knocked up.
– Entangling: Run out of the green circle on the ground to escape Entangling effects.
– Storming: Move away from Storming effects to avoid damage and being knocked up.
– Spiteful: CC creatures spawned from dead enemy corpses to prevent heavy melee damage to targeted players.
– Raging: Have a class with a “de-rage” ability to use on the most dangerous mob of the group.
– Bursting: Dispel party members when they have five stacks or more of Bursting, or if someone is struggling to stay alive.
– Bolstering: Evenly AoE trash packs and avoid chain pulling to prevent bolstering new packs.
– Sanguine: Don’t stand in Sanguine Ichor and interrupt casters. Tanks should kite trash packs and interrupt casters in Sanguine Ichor.
If you’ve already adapted to the new affixes in season two, you won’t need to learn anything new for season three. However, if you were hoping for new challenging mechanics, you’ll have to wait until season four for potential new affixes or changes to existing ones. At least Sanguine Ichor no longer stacks.
