Unleash the Power of Hwei’s Unique Skill Kit
Hwei, a complex character in League of Legends, possesses an unprecedented skill kit with 10 individual abilities. Riot Games has ingeniously designed him to be the first champion with such versatility, requiring players to learn how to combine his skills effectively in various situations.
Three Types of Spells
Hwei’s nine basic spells can be categorized into three types: devastating damage spells, protective and sustaining spells, and oppressive crowd control spells. Understanding how to utilize each type is crucial for maximizing Hwei’s potential.
Combining Hwei’s Abilities
To combine Hwei’s abilities, players must first decide which type of spell they want to cast: damage, utility, or crowd control. Each type is accessed by pressing a specific key: Q for damage (Subject: Disaster), W for utility (Subject: Serenity), and E for crowd control (Subject: Torment).
Once the spellbook is accessed, players can then combine it with another basic ability key to cast the desired spell. For example, to unleash Hwei’s Severing Bolt damage ability, players need to press Q followed by W. On the other hand, if they wish to provide a group movement speed buff using Fleeting Current, they should press W first, then Q.
Each spellbook contains three unique spells, all serving their own purpose within Hwei’s gameplay. This complexity makes him a challenging champion to master but also a valuable asset for teams in need of poke, shields, movement speed, or engagement.
Canceling Spells with (R) Wash Brush
If players realize they need to switch to a different spellbook during a skirmish, they can simply press R to reset Hwei and access a new spellbook without wasting mana on casting a spell from the previous one.
For instance, if players have already accessed the Disaster spellbook by pressing Q but realize their teammates require shielding, they can press R to reset Hwei and then access the Serenity spellbook using W to provide utility-based spells.

If you’ve already accessed a certain spellbook during a skirmish, and realize you need to actually use another spellbook for a different effect, you can simply click R to wash the brush clean. This will allow you to re-select a spellbook without having to waste mana by casting one of the spells first.
For example, if you’ve already clicked Q to access the Disaster spellbook, but realize that your teammates need some shielding, you can press R to reset Hwei so he can now access the Serenity spellbook to help out his teammates instead with a utility-based spell.
