Riot Games Introduces New Support Item with Five Transformations

Xavier Ward

Support players in League of Legends have long been dissatisfied with the lack of variety in starting quest items. However, in 2024, Riot Games is set to revolutionize the role by introducing a new “one-size-fits-all” item that can be transformed into five different options.

Previously, support players were limited to one meta choice based on their damage type. This lack of diversity led to a lack of satisfaction among players. Additionally, the quest item became obsolete in the later stages of the game, serving only as a ward holder.

The new unnamed item addresses these concerns by providing gold to the player and offering five different transformations. These transformations cater to various playstyles and support types, allowing for more flexibility and diversity in the role.

Tanky engage supports can upgrade the item into Celestial Opposition, which provides increased durability for both themselves and their team. Enchanters can enhance their shielding and healing abilities with the Dream Maker upgrade. Warden champions have the option of upgrading to Solstice Sleigh.

Furthermore, this new quest item opens up possibilities for fighter-type champions with the Bloodsong upgrade, as well as damage-focused mage champions with Zaz’Zak’s Realmspike. These upgrades aim to widen the support champion pool and offer more meaningful choices for players.

More details about these new items will be available when they hit the League PBE on Monday, Nov. 20. Overall, this new system promises to bring more excitement and flexibility to the support role, addressing long-standing concerns and adding depth to the gameplay experience.
