One of the most intense Call of Duty maps, Shipment, is making a comeback in Modern Warfare 3. The developers at Sledgehammer Games have confirmed that Shipment will be included in Season One of MW3. In addition to Shipment, players will also have the opportunity to try out five other close-quarters maps for the new two-on-two game mode, reminiscent of Warzone’s Gulag battlegrounds.
Four of the new maps will be familiar to players as they are “Carry-Forward” maps from Modern Warfare 2. The developers have also announced a brand-new map called Training Facility, which will be available at the start of the season.
The return of Shipment in MW3 shouldn’t come as a surprise to long-time Call of Duty fans. This iconic map, filled with containers and set in a rainy environment, has been featured in almost half of the mainline Call of Duty titles. Activision has chosen to bring back several classic maps in MW3, with the majority of the game’s 20-map list being returning areas from previous Call of Duty games.
Maps like Favela, Afghan, and Highrise have already delighted the next generation of Call of Duty players, and now Shipment is joining the party. However, some gamers have expressed their disappointment with the lack of changes to the map, which has remained largely unchanged for over a decade. Players have taken to social media to question whether anything new has been added to the latest Call of Duty title, using Shipment as an example of the perceived lack of innovation.
We will have to wait until Shipment arrives in MW3 to see if any tweaks have been made. Players hoping for even a simple color change may have to wait for the next Call of Duty installment.
