Chess grandmaster and popular streamer Hikaru Nakamura has hit back at fellow players Vladimir Kramnik and Ian Nepomniachtchi after they raised suspicions about him cheating. Nakamura shared a screenshot of Kramnik’s post on Chess.com, where Kramnik highlighted the impressive stats of a player in recent blitz games. It was later revealed that these stats were targeting Nakamura himself.
Nakamura expressed his disbelief at the accusations, questioning whether Kramnik was truly accusing him of cheating. He also called out Nepomniachtchi for supporting these concerns. The chess community has since reacted to Nakamura’s response.
Hikaru Nakamura is widely recognized for his exceptional chess skills, particularly in blitz chess, and has broken numerous records throughout his career. As of November 2023, he holds a FIDE rating of 2874 in blitz.
Vladimir Kramnik has been vocal about cheating issues on Chess.com, previously boycotting the platform and making allegations against other players. Despite Chess.com’s efforts to address fair play and cheat-detection measures, Kramnik believes more needs to be done.
