Marvel Snap developer Second Dinner has confirmed that one of its cards can indirectly provide players with valuable information about their opponent’s hand, which is a rare occurrence in the game. When Zabu is in play, players will be alerted whenever their opponent draws a four-cost card.
During a discussion on the game’s official Discord server, a user named mattb1940 noticed that Zabu not only makes a roar and slash sound effect when its user draws a four-cost card but also does the same sound effect for the opponent. This unintentional feature allows Zabu’s user to gain insight into their opponent’s hand, providing a potential advantage.
The user expressed their surprise at this unusual occurrence, as it is uncommon for an opponent’s cards to reveal information about their hand. While the advantage may seem minor in most cases, it can make a significant difference if the opponent is highly skilled and strategic.
In response to the user’s query, Second Dinner’s audio director Chris Alan acknowledged that this behavior seems like a bug. He confirmed that the sound effect should only occur when Zabu’s user draws a four-cost card and not when the opponent does. Alan thanked the user for bringing this issue to their attention and assured them that he would investigate and resolve the matter.
Having additional information about the opponent’s cards is highly advantageous in card games. It opens up possibilities for predicting the opponent’s next moves, especially if their deck strategy or engine is known early on.
Zabu is a crucial component of popular meta decks such as the Darkhawk strategy and Ongoing decks. The unintended sound effect bug provides an unfair advantage to Zabu’s user, going beyond its intended effect. Therefore, it is essential to fix this bug promptly to maintain fairness and balance in the game.
