Former professional soccer player turned movie star, Vinnie Jones, has been selected as the ambassador for World of Tanks’ upcoming Holiday Ops 2024 event, according to developer Wargaming. The event, starting on December 1st, will feature special challenges and quests presented by Jones himself.
Players who successfully complete these missions will be rewarded with themed customization items, including tank skins, emblems, inscriptions, decals, medals, unique decorations, and avatars. Additionally, players of World of Tanks and World of Tanks Modern Armor will have the opportunity to recruit Vinnie into their tank crews, benefiting from his iconic voice during battles.
Wargaming released a humorous video featuring Jones as part of the announcement. The video portrays him as a former Santa’s helper responsible for those on the “naughty list,” who has now become a commander in World of Tanks.
Jones expressed his excitement about joining the World of Tanks community, stating, “I’m leaving behind my candy canes to join the amazing World of Tanks players for Holiday Ops 2024. My days of ‘correcting’ people on the naughty list are over. I am now a World of Tanks commander, and it’s going to be a jingle-bells kind of experience!”
World of Tanks, initially launched in 2010, is an MMO where players control tanks from the 20th century. It later expanded to new-gen consoles with World of Tanks Modern Armor.
Vinnie Jones gained fame as a tough soccer player, notably as a member of Wimbledon’s “Crazy Gang” in the mid-1990s. Throughout his Premier League career, he received seven red cards in just 184 matches. After retiring from soccer, Jones transitioned to the silver screen, appearing in films such as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Mean Machine.
Teaming up with Vinnie Jones to wreak havoc in a tank sounds like an incredibly enjoyable experience. While the duration of the Holiday Ops event has not been specified, it is likely to be available until early 2024.
