Destiny 2’s highly anticipated Fireteam Finder system, which was originally promised to be available at the launch of the Lightfall expansion, has been delayed once again. Bungie, the developers of Destiny 2, announced that they have encountered unexpected technical challenges and have made the difficult decision to extend the testing period. They will be conducting a stress test on November 30th, followed by a public beta period in December. The full release of Fireteam Finder is now expected in late January, depending on the data gathered during the beta period.
In a recent blog post, the team at Bungie explained that they have made significant progress on Fireteam Finder but want to ensure its viability by involving a larger player base in the testing process. They believe that testing within the studio alone is not sufficient to evaluate the social feature’s effectiveness. By opening up the testing to the public, they hope to gather valuable feedback and make necessary improvements.
The initial stress test on November 30th will focus exclusively on raids and will run from 11am CT to 7pm CT. However, Bungie acknowledges that there may be unforeseen circumstances that could cause the test to end earlier. They plan to monitor the results closely and expand the activities available for testing based on the progress made during the stress test. The ultimate goal is to have a Fireteam Finder option for every activity in the game.
Despite the delay in the full release, players can still expect to have access to a dedicated LFG system during the Season of the Wish. However, they should be prepared for potential technical issues as the system undergoes testing and improvements. While fans have been eagerly awaiting this feature since its original projected launch date, the majority are likely to be understanding of any imperfections that may arise during the testing phase.
