Following a disappointing performance at the 2023 League of Legends World Championship, top LCK organization Dplus KIA is undergoing a major roster revamp for 2024. The team has decided to part ways with three players from its starting roster, including the legendary AD carry Deft, longtime jungler Canyon, and top laner Canna. The only players whose contracts have not expired are mid lane phenom ShowMaker and support player Kellin, although their contracts are also set to expire on Nov. 20, according to League’s global contract database.
As of now, Dplus KIA has no players signed to its LCK roster for the upcoming offseason. However, the organization has a pool of talented Challengers players who can be called up if replacements for the former stars cannot be found.
Canyon has been one of the longest-serving players on Dplus KIA, making his LCK debut with the team in 2019. During his time with the organization, he helped DK secure three LCK championships, reached the finals of the Mid-Season Invitational, and even won the World Championship in 2020.
Deft, renowned as one of the greatest marksmen in League history, joined DK after an impressive run to the Summoner’s Cup last year. His addition was expected to strengthen the team and create a formidable superteam in one of the most competitive leagues worldwide.
Together with ShowMaker, Deft and Canyon aimed to form a dominant trio that would conquer the LCK. However, their aspirations were cut short by Hanwha Life Esports in the 2023 Spring Split and by T1 in the summer. They failed to achieve domestic success and suffered an early exit at Worlds, losing to G2 Esports and KT Rolster twice during the Swiss stage.
Despite not securing any tournament victories this year, both Canyon and Deft are highly sought-after free agents. They possess the potential to become key players in future superteams in Korea or potentially make the leap to the LPL, following the footsteps of many others before them.
