For the most part, the classes in World of Warcraft (WoW) were well-balanced in the first two seasons of Dragonflight. However, season three seems to have taken a step in the wrong direction for melee DPS, unless you happen to be a Demon Hunter.
Havoc, the Demon Hunter specialization, is consistently outperforming other melee DPS specs and is currently considered the best in the game. This is evident in the season three tier list, which shows that Rogues, Warriors, Shamans, Paladins, and Death Knights are being overshadowed by Demon Hunters. This has left many players feeling frustrated.
A Redditor recently shared a meme that humorously captures the experience of being a melee DPS in Dragonflight season three. The meme highlights the ease with which well-geared Demon Hunters can join Mythic+ groups, while other melee DPS classes struggle to find a place.
The meme does not even include Feral Druids, Windwalker Monks, or Survival Hunters, indicating how lackluster these specs are currently. One comment on the post reads, “As a WW main, I love how they aren’t even included on the chart. It perfectly reflects the state of the spec.” It is disheartening to see Monks consistently at the bottom of the tier list, as they often receive less attention and support compared to other classes.
Both DPS specs for Warriors and Death Knights also find themselves in the lower half of the tier list, with other melee DPS classes not faring much better. The only exception is Outlaw Rogues, which sit solidly in the top of A-tier but still fall short compared to Havoc Demon Hunters. Another Redditor commented, “As an outlaw, I feel very strong and provide great utility to the group. But Demon Hunters make me feel weak and inadequate.”
It is time for Blizzard to address this imbalance and either bring Demon Hunters back in line with other classes or buff the other melee DPS specs to level the playing field.
