Companions in Baldur’s Gate 3 Lack Meaningful Interactions

Xavier Ward

A player recently expressed their disappointment with the lack of meaningful interactions between companions in Baldur’s Gate 3. Unlike games like Dragon Age: Inquisition and Mass Effect 3, where characters have scenes where they hang out and interact with each other, BG3 companions seem to only exist for a few moments or cutscenes.

The player suggested that adding scenes where characters can hang out together, similar to the poker scene in Dragon Age: Inquisition, would enhance the immersion and depth of the game. However, some fans pointed out that this might be challenging to implement in BG3 since players have the option to play solo without any companions.

One suggestion from players was to incorporate more interactions between characters during camp moments. This could include banter between characters or allowing them to engage in activities within the camp. For example, characters could be seen cooking, sparring, drinking, or playing with pets.

Currently, the camp atmosphere in BG3 feels lifeless, with characters simply standing by their tents. Players expressed the desire for more dynamic and interactive camp scenes, similar to those found in Mass Effect 3, where crew members move around and interact with each other.

While it is uncertain whether Larian Studios, the developers of BG3, will make changes to address this issue, the suggestion to add more character interactions is well-received by the community. These small moments of interaction can greatly enhance the immersion and enjoyment of a story-driven game like Baldur’s Gate 3.
