Former G2 Esports player jks was allegedly ignored and excluded by the organization’s Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) manager and staff before being benched, according to CS2 analyst SPUNJ. The Australian star was officially replaced by nexa on November 21, but leaks about his departure started circulating earlier after G2’s loss to Complexity at IEM Sydney 2023. During this time, jks was reportedly not communicated with for weeks at a time.
SPUNJ revealed that jks made multiple attempts to find out when he was supposed to return to Europe for CS2 practice but received no response from the organization. This roster change coincided with NiKo’s decision to stay with G2 instead of joining Team Falcons, leading to nexa taking jks’ place in the starting lineup. While NiKo denied being the one behind the reshuffle, SPUNJ suggested that as a prominent figure in the Counter-Strike community, he likely had significant influence over the team.
Despite the abrupt end to his time with G2, jks achieved several top finishes and won multiple trophies during his tenure. G2’s recent CS2 lineups secured victories at IEM Katowice 2023, IEM Cologne 2023, and BLAST World Finals 2022 after jks joined the team in August 2022.
As of now, jks’ future plans have not been announced. With potential shakeups happening in teams like FaZe and Liquid, there may be open spots in various CS2 lineups. However, jks will need to find a team before the roster locks for the Copenhagen CS2 Major 2024 in March 2024.
Dot Esports has reached out to G2 for a response regarding SPUNJ’s claims.
