Larian Studios has announced that Patch Five for Baldur’s Gate 3 will be released this week, addressing various issues that arose in the previous patch. Patch Four, released on November 2nd, caused some players to experience slowdowns, particularly in the later parts of the campaign.
Players who engaged in stealing and vandalizing activities also encountered difficulties after the release of Patch Four. Michael Douse, Larian Studios’ director of publishing, shared on Twitter that Patch Five will be a substantial update and more details will be revealed soon. He mentioned that the bug causing slowdowns has been fixed in this upcoming patch, along with other improvements.
According to a statement from Larian Studios to IGN, the bug was introduced when the team implemented a fix to prevent Scrying Eyes from immediately alerting guards when players sneaked around Moonrise Towers. However, this unintentionally caused thefts and acts of vandalism to remain stuck in the game, rather than progressing as intended. This resulted in the game becoming sluggish for players who engaged in such activities, making Act Three nearly unplayable in some cases.
The exact release date for Patch Five has not been announced yet, but Larian Studios is actively sharing updates on social media regarding the changes and timing. Keep an eye out for further information on Twitter from Larian Studios and the official Baldur’s Gate 3 account in the coming days.
