A CS:GO player has unexpectedly received access to the Counter-Strike 2 beta on their smurf account, which had been inactive for months. This suggests that some invites to the highly-anticipated game are being given out randomly, contrary to popular belief.
The player shared their surprise on Reddit, explaining that they hadn’t played on their smurf account much before the game was announced. While it is true that most beta invites were given to accounts with a lot of hours in CS:GO or high activity levels, this player’s case seems to be an exception.
Despite not being actively used, the smurf account received some playtime in April and May, when additional invites were likely sent out. However, the player and many others with thousands of hours in CS:GO have reported not receiving an invite.
We hope that the CS2 beta phase will come to an end soon. Although the game was initially set to be released this summer, there is currently no information about its launch date. The developers have tested almost all main maps in the beta, except Inferno, which may indicate that they are preparing for a wider release. We eagerly await further updates.
