Blizzard finally nerfs Overwatch 2’s newest support hero, Illari, after her dominating presence in the game. The Peruvian prodigy’s solar-powered abilities and healing turret have been causing havoc, prompting the developers to make adjustments.
Ability | Nerf |
---|---|
Healing Pylon | Healing decreased to 30 (from 40), shields decreased to 50 (from 75) |
Captive Sun | Projectile Impact and explosion now blocked by barriers, projectile size decreased to 0.75 meters (from 1.5), Sunstruck duration decreased to six seconds (from seven) |
The game’s director, Aaron Keller, had warned players about Illari’s potential power prior to her release in season six. With her introduction to competitive mode today, Blizzard implemented these nerfs to address the issues players were facing with her Healing Pylon and Captive Sun abilities.
Alec Dawson, the lead hero designer, explained that Healing Pylon accounted for a significant portion of Illari’s healing output, around 63%. The goal is to shift the focus towards her active healing, which remains strong. The reduction in Captive Sun’s projectile size aims to improve visual clarity when it is blocked by barriers or other abilities, as the previous size made it difficult for Illari players to predict its consumption.
Illari is now available for competitive play, as Blizzard typically allows a two-week period for new heroes to be tested and any bugs to be addressed before their inclusion in competitive mode.
