A recent patch for WoW Classic has caused frustration among players just hours before the launch of Hardcore mode. The update resulted in server lag and compatibility problems with certain addons, leaving many Classic-era players unhappy.
Players on the WoW Classic subreddit have reported experiencing high ping despite the game displaying a lower value. Instead of the expected 30ms, players are facing around 200ms, impacting their gameplay experience.
In addition to the lag issues, players are also displeased with the introduction of a new settings interface. The updated menu, borrowed from WoW Dragonflight, brings a modern touch to the otherwise nostalgic game. While some appreciate the improved quality-of-life features, others prefer the old menu’s simplicity.
These concerns are particularly worrisome as Hardcore servers are set to launch today. With the risk of permanent character death, any lag spike in crowded areas could prove fatal. Blizzard has made it clear that no appeals process will be available for players who lose their characters due to lag.
Although Blizzard did make some positive changes to reduce lag on flight paths, this latest update has been met with negative feedback and may disrupt players’ plans for Hardcore WoW.
