Riot has announced the upcoming release of VALORANT Premier mode, and top coach Daniel “fRoD” Montaner believes it will be the breeding ground for the game’s next wave of superstars. In a post-game press conference, fRoD praised the structured format of Premier, stating that it will better prepare players for professional play compared to standard ranked matches. He emphasized the importance of developing teamwork and coordination skills, which are often lacking in casual gameplay. According to fRoD, Premier will not only provide valuable experience and practice at a higher level but also serve as an opportunity for new talent to shine.
Premier will introduce a new tournament system in VALORANT, featuring divisions and categories within each region. The highest category, Contender, will allow teams to compete in open qualifiers for VALORANT Challengers starting in early 2024. By the end of the year, all new teams will be required to go through Premier before advancing to Challengers. This format has sparked optimism in fRoD, who believes it will shape the future of the pro scene.
