Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon – The Bloodborne Sequel You Didn’t Know You Needed

superadmin

Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon is not just another mech game. It’s a hidden sequel to Bloodborne, but with mechs instead of monsters. If you approach it with the same mindset as Bloodborne, you’ll find that the gameplay mechanics align perfectly. Close-quarters combat skills are just as important in Rubicon 3 as they are in Yharnam.

Don’t underestimate the starting weapon, the BU-TT/A Pulse Blade. It may seem underwhelming, but it holds the key to unlocking your Armored Core’s true potential, especially in the early stages of the game. Embrace an aggressive playstyle and get up close and personal with your enemies, just like in Bloodborne.

Mastering Close-Quarters Combat: Defeating the First Boss

When facing the PCA heavy combat helicopter, your initial instinct might be to keep your distance and rely on long-range weapons. However, this strategy will quickly lead to defeat as the helicopter’s missiles tear through your health. The lesson here is to close the gap and stay in the enemy’s face. This approach, reminiscent of Bloodborne, is what will lead you to victory.

Even after the first boss fight, melee weapons remain a viable strategy throughout the entire game. Utilize the Quick Boost ability to quickly close the distance between you and your foes. There’s nothing more satisfying than launching yourself at an enemy mech, slashing them with your laser sword, and finishing them off with a shotgun blast.

While the selection of melee weapons in AC6 may not be as extensive as the ranged weapons, they still offer variety and cater to different playstyles. The Moonlight Greatsword, a recurring weapon in FromSoftware games, makes an appearance once again. The Vvc-770LB Laser Blade is also a fan favorite, allowing you to slice through enemies with a katana made of pure energy.

Ultimately, whether you prefer long-range sniping or close-range combat, a melee-focused approach is just as effective in AC6. It may even help Soulsborne fans transition into the game’s unique combat loop. One thing is for certain: your opponents won’t see it coming.
