The latest patch in VALORANT, Patch 7.04, brings about significant changes to abilities and ultimates in the game. Riot Games believes that certain ability combinations and ultimates have been having too much impact on gameplay, limiting counterplay opportunities for the opposing team. In order to address this issue and increase game state clarity, Patch 7.04 aims to reduce the effectiveness, frequency, and duration of certain abilities and ultimates.
Here’s what you can expect in VALORANT Patch 7.04:
Ultimate Cost Increases
To balance the game, the cost of several ultimate abilities has been increased. The focus is on ultimates that have a large area of effect and high impact, putting significant pressure on the opposing team. The following ultimates now require an additional point to activate:
– Viper’s Pit: Increased from eight points to nine points.
– Breach’s Rolling Thunder: Increased from eight points to nine points.
– Brimstone’s Orbital Strike: Increased from seven points to eight points.
– Killjoy’s Lockdown: Increased from eight points to nine points.
– Skye’s Seekers: Increased from seven points to eight points.
– Jett’s Blade Storm: Increased from seven points to eight points.
Major Jett Nerfs
Jett, one of the most relied upon agents in the game, has received significant nerfs in Patch 7.04. Riot Games identified an issue with Jett’s ability to escape trouble easily, even after previous changes to her Dash ability. The goal is to encourage more deliberate and intentional playmaking. The key changes to Jett are as follows:
– Tailwind’s dash window reduced from 12 seconds to 7.5 seconds. Activation windup increased from 0.75 seconds to one second.
– Cloudburst smoke duration reduced from 4.5 seconds to 2.5 seconds. Time to re-equip gun after using Cloudburst slightly increased.
– Number of Updraft charges reduced from two to one.
– Blade Storm ultimate cost increased from seven to eight points.
Changes to Breeze
Breeze, the map that was temporarily removed from the active duty pool, is making a comeback in Patch 7.04. The map has undergone significant changes to simplify certain areas and improve gameplay. Here are the key changes made to Breeze:
– A Cave has been completely closed, with only A Shop serving as the main entrance to the A site.
– A Hall has been closed off, eliminating the need for defenders to watch that angle.
– One side of the Mid Pillar has been completely closed off.
– The Mid doors to A have been opened to allow for more space.
– Minor adjustments have been made to the A and B sites themselves.
