Microsoft Removes Xbox Game Pass Trial Ahead of Starfield Launch

superadmin

Microsoft has discontinued its highly popular two-week trial for Xbox Game Pass, leaving fans disappointed and frustrated, especially with the upcoming release of Bethesda’s Starfield. The $1, 14-day trial option suddenly disappeared from the Xbox Game Pass page on August 29, causing a wave of disappointment among gamers. This is not the first time Microsoft has made changes to the Game Pass offer, as they previously removed the 30-day trial just before the launch of Redfall in March 2023. The company stated that they were evaluating different marketing promotions for new members. Although the trial offer returned in July, it was later reduced to only 14 days. Many players were hoping to take advantage of the trial to experience Starfield before committing to a longer subscription.

Unfortunately, this option is no longer available. Gamers who want to play Starfield or access Microsoft’s extensive library of games will now have to pay for a full month’s subscription. However, at $9.99 for PC users and $10.99 for Xbox users, it is still a reasonably priced option.

Despite the negative response to this decision, many players acknowledged the value they receive with a monthly subscription, which can be canceled immediately to avoid further charges. However, it was not surprising to see Microsoft remove the trial offer, as some players felt it was too good to be true. It is likely that the company grew tired of people paying $1 to play a game and then canceling their subscription.

Some players mentioned alternative ways to access trial codes, such as through Microsoft Rewards or the Xbox App. It may be worth checking if any such offers are available in your account.

As for Starfield, players can still enjoy the game by subscribing to one of the Game Pass options or purchasing it at full price for $70. The game is set to launch on September 6.
