The minimap orientation in VALORANT’s Sunset map has been causing confusion among players. Unlike other maps that have a bottom-to-top arrangement, Sunset’s minimap is aligned from left to right. This inconsistency has made it difficult for players to orient themselves and understand their location on the map.
A Reddit post brought attention to this issue, with players expressing their frustration. The natural expectation was for the minimap to follow the same orientation as other maps, considering that players start from the attacker/defender spawn and progress towards the opponent’s spawn. The deviation in Sunset’s minimap orientation is not only confusing but also inconsistent with the rest of the game.
The problem arises when using a fixed minimap based on the side (attacker/defender) a player is on. It throws off players who are accustomed to the original bottom-to-top orientation. This issue is particularly problematic as players are still learning the features of the new Sunset map.
The good news is that the minimap flaw is expected to be fixed in the upcoming Patch 7.05, which will introduce Sunset to the Competitive and Unrated queues. Until then, players can try using the rotating minimap feature in VALORANT to help with orientation.
