Legend Story Studios is introducing a new multiplayer expansion set for the popular trading card game Flesh and Blood. The expansion, called “Round the Table,” allows up to four players to engage in gameplay together, a first for the game. Created in collaboration with TCG expert Brian “The Professor” Lewis, the expansion includes four ready-to-play Blitz decks, over 100 new cards, and even features a hero card based on The Professor himself. The Round the Table expansion will be exclusively available for purchase in game stores starting on September 29, 2023.
Flesh and Blood is a unique take on the trading card game genre, offering a fresh and exciting experience for fans of games like Magic: The Gathering. In this game, players assume the role of a hero and construct an 80-card deck consisting of weapons, equipment, and signature move cards. Similar to the color system in Magic: The Gathering, the chosen hero determines which cards can be included in the deck. A notable difference in Flesh and Blood is the resource system, where players “pitch” cards from their hand to gain resources for playing other cards. This adds a strategic element to the game, making it more engaging than traditional mana-based systems.
The Round the Table expansion brings the multiplayer aspect to Flesh and Blood, making it an ideal choice for those who enjoy games like Magic: The Gathering’s Commander format. Designed with casual gameplay in mind, the expansion is perfect for new players and features beginner-friendly mechanics. The four preconstructed decks included in the expansion adhere to the Blitz ruleset, a streamlined version of Flesh and Blood that allows for fast-paced games. In Blitz, players start with 52 cards instead of 80 and play as “young heroes” with reduced health. This format is well-suited for multiplayer matches, preventing excessively long games that are often seen in Commander format.
By collaborating with The Professor, Legend Story Studios aims to showcase the fun and excitement of the new multiplayer Round the Table format to the community. The Professor is a well-known advocate for Flesh and Blood, with his Tolarian Community College YouTube channel featuring multiple videos dedicated to the game. He also strongly supports local game stores and hopes that by releasing Round the Table exclusively in these stores, it will help strengthen their role as community venues and social hubs.
Flesh and Blood provides an enjoyable and engaging alternative to traditional tabletop trading card games like Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, and Yu-Gi-Oh! With the launch of Round the Table and the upcoming expansion Bright Lights, Legend Story Studios aims to make the game more accessible to newcomers. Now is the perfect time to dive into the world of Flesh and Blood and experience its unique gameplay mechanics and thrilling battles.
