OG Misses TI for the First Time in Organization History

superadmin

OG, once considered invincible, has suffered a major upset as they fail to qualify for Dota 2’s The International (TI) for the first time in their organization’s history. In a grueling three-hour battle against Quest Esports, OG’s dreams were shattered, marking a significant turning point for the team.

Throughout the 2023 Dota 2 season, OG’s young roster struggled to maintain their previous dominance. Despite their efforts, they found themselves on the verge of relegation and faced inconsistency. The team’s struggles were further exacerbated by their inability to find a stable position five player, resulting in multiple changes between Mikhail “Misha” Agatov and Evgenii “Chu” Makarov.

Due to visa issues, OG decided to enter the qualifiers without either support player and instead opted for veteran Sébastien “Ceb” Debs and Kartik “Kitrak” Rathi. Although they fought their way back from an early exit in the upper bracket, OG’s hopes were dashed when they faced Quest in the lower bracket.

Quest, who had shown remarkable improvement after adding Tobias “Tobi” Buchner to their roster, proved to be a formidable opponent. Their victory over OG sealed the fate of the once-dominant organization, leaving them out of TI12.

Following their elimination, OG’s founder and two-time TI champion, Johan “N0tail” Sundstein, expressed his disappointment on Twitter. He thanked the fans for their support and expressed his hope for the success of all the players involved in the project.

N0tail’s words may hint at potential roster changes for OG, as the team had already been experimenting with different lineups prior to the TI12 qualifiers.

Overall, OG’s failure to qualify for TI12 marks a significant milestone in their organization’s history. It serves as a reminder that even the most dominant teams can face setbacks and highlights the fierce competition within the Dota 2 scene.
