Final Fantasy XIV surprised fans with an unexpected collaboration event featuring Japanese whisky brand Nagahama. To celebrate the game’s 10-year anniversary, three limited edition bottles will be released in Japan on October 10th. Each bottle represents one of the game’s starting cities: Ul’dah, Gridania, and Limsa Lominsa.
This collaboration is particularly unique as alcohol is rarely seen in FFXIV. The only characters shown consuming alcohol in the game’s story are the beloved Moogles from the Final Fantasy franchise.
While the bottles will only be available in Japan, fans from around the world are already pleading for international delivery. Priced at 8,800 yen (approximately $60), these whisky bottles are expected to sell quickly. Those who miss out may have to pay a premium to acquire them later, not to mention potential additional costs for international shipping.
Square Enix has planned numerous celebrations for FFXIV’s tenth anniversary. The recently launched Rising event expresses gratitude to players by offering a free Rising Phoenix mount and includes new and returning items, as well as nostalgic minigames.
