Armored Core 6 Data Leak Reveals Possible DLC Content

superadmin

A data miner has uncovered hidden files in Armored Core 6, hinting at potential DLC content for the game. The leaked files include assets from previous Armored Core titles, such as mechs and enemy units, which may make their way into the game in a future update.

The discovery was made by Twitter user Meowmaritus, known for delving into FromSoftware games to uncover hidden secrets. They posted the contents of the files on September 2, revealing mechs and enemies from Armored Core 5 and Armored Core: Verdict Day.

It is not uncommon for game developers to leave unused content in their files, including scrapped ideas or tests. However, what makes this discovery interesting is that many of the mechs from previous titles have been partially or completely remade with the upgraded graphics of Armored Core 6.

This suggests that Armored Core 6 may have originally been conceived as a direct sequel to Armored Core 5 and Verdict Day, rather than a complete reboot. While the story in Armored Core games has always been minimal, it is unclear how this original concept would have influenced the narrative direction of Armored Core 6.

There is also the possibility that these assets could be intended for future DLC. The Arena, a gameplay mode in Armored Core 6, could potentially be expanded with new opponents, including the mechs from previous titles. FromSoftware has a history of releasing substantial DLC packs for their games, making this a plausible scenario.

Regardless of their intended purpose, the discovery of these old assets in a modern game is intriguing. It adds a certain novelty to see PS3-era models in a current-gen title. Fans of Armored Core will undoubtedly be excited to see if these mechs will make an appearance in the game in the future.
