Elevate Your Ranked Play with Pro VALORANT Team Strategies

superadmin

Looking to improve your performance in ranked play? Take a page from the pro VALORANT teams at VCT Champions 2023. They frequently used a winning team composition on Ascent, a classic map that can help you find similar success.

According to stats aggregate RIB.gg, the most popular team composition at the tournament was Sova, Killjoy, Omen, Jett, and KAY/O on Ascent, used a total of 20 times. The second most popular composition was Raze, Killjoy, Viper, Omen, and Fade on Lotus, played around 12 times.

Ascent is considered one of the best maps in VALORANT due to its minimal mechanical gimmicks. It features a large middle area for long-ranged encounters and straightforward passageways to each site. With its status as an original map, players have had ample time to perfect their team compositions.

The chosen agents for Ascent excel individually and synergize well together. Sova, for example, has numerous Recon Bolt angles that provide easy scouting on attack or help defenders spot possible pushes for faster rotations. His Shock Darts can flush out popular hiding spots, and his ultimate ability is formidable in post-plant situations.

Killjoy is a top-tier sentinel agent who can adapt to any composition. She can hold down a site single-handedly with her powerful traps and take control of an entire area with her Lockdown ultimate. Omen, a strong controller, can open up a site with his smokes, blocking sightlines for his team’s entry. His teleportation abilities and blinding skills are particularly effective in Ascent’s narrow corridors.

While Jett was once the go-to duelist choice for Ascent, Raze or Reyna are now viable alternatives for solo queue players. Lastly, KAY/O is an excellent choice for his information-gathering abilities with the ZERO/POINT knife, space creation with FLASH/DRIVE, and choke point control with FRAG/MENT.

By studying the strategies employed by pro teams on Ascent, you can elevate your own ranked play and increase your chances of success. Take advantage of the strengths and synergies of these agents to dominate the competition.
