Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC: The Teal Mask Brings Back TM Moves and Introduces New Mechanics

superadmin

As the release date for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s DLC, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Part I: The Teal Mask, approaches, we have exciting new details about returning TM moves and game-changing mechanics.

According to Japanese news site Famitsu, The Teal Mask will reintroduce several TM moves that were initially excluded from Scarlet and Violet but were introduced in previous generations. These moves include Grassy Glide, Burning Jealousy, Poltergeist, Lash Out, and Toxic.

The return of these TM moves is significant, especially for competitive play. Grassy Glide, for example, is an increased priority attack in Grassy Terrain, making it a perfect fit for Rillaboom, which can set up the terrain with its Grassy Surge ability. Although Grassy Glide’s base power is being reduced from 70 to 60, it will still be a formidable move for Rillaboom and is expected to impact the metagame.

Toxic, on the other hand, is a move favored by players who enjoy stalling tactics. It gradually chips away at the target’s health each turn, making battles longer and more strategic. With Toxic becoming more accessible through TM distribution, we can anticipate an increase in stall strategies and prolonged battles.

In addition to the TM moves, the DLC will also introduce quality-of-life changes through certain items such as Tera Shards, the EXP Charm, and the Roto Stick. Currently, farming Tera Shards can be a tedious task, requiring players to repeatedly engage in Tera Raids. However, the DLC will offer an alternative method of acquiring Tera Shards through the Ogre Oustin’ mini-game, providing a potentially quicker and more enjoyable farming experience.

The EXP Charm is another valuable addition, as it boosts the amount of experience points received by the entire team. This makes training Pokémon for battles or raids much easier and more efficient.

Lastly, the Roto Stick, a new item resembling a selfie stick, will enhance the photography experience in the game. It not only provides additional options for capturing photos but also adds fun music for Pokémon to pose to, adding an extra layer of enjoyment for players who love taking in-game snapshots.

The Teal Mask DLC is scheduled to be released on September 13th. In the meantime, players of Scarlet and Violet will be occupied with the challenging Mewtwo Tera Raid event.
