The Mewtwo Tera Raid event in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has presented players with the toughest raid battle yet. While teaming up with friends is the recommended approach, one player has defied the odds and successfully soloed the Mewtwo Tera Raid. Here’s their strategy for those struggling to defeat it alone.
Since the start of the Legendary Tera Raid event on Aug. 31, players have discovered that using Tera Bug Mew as a counter and collaborating with friends is the most effective way to defeat Mewtwo. However, soloing the raid seems impossible due to the extensive setup required, including Light Screen, Defense Cheers, terrain manipulation, and Swords Dance. Additionally, Mewtwo’s formidable strength and massive health bar make it a daunting challenge.
Nevertheless, one player has shared their method of soloing the Mewtwo Tera Raid using only one Mew and three NPCs.
It’s important to note that this strategy heavily relies on luck, meaning it may take numerous attempts before achieving success. The initial phase of the raid requires a stroke of luck—specifically, one of the NPCs must possess a Pokémon capable of paralyzing Mewtwo. Paralysis slows down Mewtwo’s attacks, providing an advantage. However, since the NPCs are randomly assigned, there is no guarantee that a Bellibolt, Umbreon, or Dudunsparce with paralysis-inducing moves will be present. Moreover, Mewtwo can break through paralysis if luck is not on your side.
In addition to paralysis, the video demonstrates the use of Mud-Slap by Mew to lower Mewtwo’s accuracy. Although this tactic does not guarantee Mewtwo missing its attacks when necessary, it does increase the odds. Equipping Mew with Bright Powder further enhances the chances of Mewtwo’s attacks missing.
Aside from relying on luck, strategic decision-making is crucial. Mewtwo consistently boosts its stats or nullifies your stat enhancements, making it essential to use Amnesia to withstand incoming hits and Bulk Up when it is safe to do so.
Once the setup is complete, you can Terastallize to Tera Bug and employ Leech Life to inflict damage while simultaneously recovering HP. The challenge lies in keeping track of the constant stat changes while ensuring your health does not deplete too rapidly.
While soloing the Mewtwo Tera Raid is not necessarily recommended, it is indeed possible to succeed with a combination of luck and perseverance. If you lack a Nintendo Switch Online membership to participate in online Tera Raids, this is your opportunity to conquer the most difficult raid battle and capture Mewtwo on your own.
