Counter-Strike Community Divided Over Match Length in CS2

superadmin

There is a heated debate in the Counter-Strike community regarding the duration of competitive matches in CS2. Valve, the game’s developer, recently reduced the number of rounds from 30 to 24, adopting the MR12 format instead of MR15. This change was made to allow players to play more games more frequently. However, some players are not happy with this decision and believe that Valve should have taken inspiration from VALORANT’s overtime format.

One of the world’s most renowned Counter-Strike professionals, cadiaN, believes that the current overtime system in CS2 often prolongs matches unnecessarily. He suggests that Valve could have implemented VALORANT’s overtime format, where teams play one round on the attacking side and one on the defensive side, and the game is won when a team wins two rounds in a row. According to cadiaN, this would save time and make matches more efficient. However, he acknowledges that implementing MR12 would require changes to the game’s economy.

The current economic system in CS:GO and CS2 often forces teams to play economic rounds due to lack of funds for a full buy. This is not ideal for the MR12 format, according to cadiaN. Some members of the CS community have suggested removing or tweaking pistol rounds to have more gun rounds in CS2. However, cadiaN disagrees with this idea, as he believes that winning pistol rounds requires a lot of skill.

Valve has stated that all competitive modes in CS2 will have a maximum of 24 rounds in regulation, including the Majors. The developer expects the structure and flow of matches to evolve over time as the CS community adapts. This has led players to believe that Valve does not plan to make any changes to the game’s economy. Therefore, it is unlikely that cadiaN’s suggestions will be implemented in the near future.

In conclusion, the Counter-Strike community is divided over the match length in CS2. While some players support the MR12 format, others believe that Valve should have adopted VALORANT’s overtime format. The game’s economy and the importance of pistol rounds are also points of contention. However, it seems that Valve is not planning to make any changes to the game’s economy at this time.
