Riot Games is taking action against boosters and bots in the latest VALORANT patch, 7.05. The update introduces new ranked restrictions and buffs Astra, while also setting the competitive map rotation. These changes aim to combat unfair gameplay and improve the overall experience for players.
In response to a rise in competitive rank boosting with bots and real players, Riot has implemented a restriction for Ascendant players and higher. They can now only invite players who are Platinum or higher to their competitive party. This restriction applies to five-stacks as well, preventing players of any rank from queuing up together unless they meet the Platinum requirement. This measure aims to address the issue of boosters using bots to manipulate matchmaking and unfairly boost their ranks.
Astra, the celestial controller agent, receives a significant buff in this patch. Players using Astra’s Astral Form will now have improved audio perception, allowing them to hear footsteps, abilities, and gunfire more clearly around their physical body. This change aims to give Astra players more agency and information, as she has seen a decline in pick rate in ranked matches.
Additionally, the competitive map rotation has been officially set for the foreseeable future. The new map, Sunset, joins the active competitive map pool alongside the revamped Breeze. This ensures a diverse and balanced map selection for competitive play.
