Nintendo Switch Online has just released its latest monthly update, and it’s great news for fans of classic Nintendo consoles. The subscription-based service now includes four new games, three of which were previously only available in Japan. This exciting announcement was made in a trailer on Sept. 6, showcasing gameplay from each of these titles.
Here are the newly added games:
1. Kirby’s Star Stacker
2. Quest for Camelot
3. Downtown Nekketsu March: Super Awesome Field Day!
4. Joy Mech Fight
What makes these games particularly special is that they were originally exclusive to Japan and never received an English translation. So, players can experience pure nostalgia in its original, untranslated form. Don’t worry about language barriers though, as the user interface is easy to navigate.
Downtown Nekketsu March: Super Awesome Field Day! was initially released in 1990 for the Japan-exclusive Nintendo console Famicom, which later became the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) outside of Japan. This pixelated action sports hit is sure to bring back memories.
Joy Mech Fight, also launched on the Famicom console in 1993, gained popularity for its funky mechs and visually appealing fighting styles. It’s a must-play for fans of retro gaming.
Kirby’s Star Stacker, a spinoff from the mainline series, was originally released for the Super Famicom (SNES) and later remade for the Game Boy console. This is not its first release in the West, but it’s still a beloved addition to the collection.
Lastly, Quest for Camelot is a 2D action RPG developed for the Game Boy and was released in 1998. Unlike the other games, it was available in both the West and Japan.
These new games join the ever-growing library of NES, SNES, and Game Boy titles available for free to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. In addition to playing these classics, subscribers can also enjoy online play and cloud saves. The subscription costs $19.99 per year ($39.99 per year for a family subscription).
Experience the joy of playing these iconic games and relive the nostalgia of Nintendo’s past with Nintendo Switch Online.
