A Disney Lorcana player and collector had a stroke of luck when they pulled two Enchantment rarity cards from a limited supply of The First Chapter booster packs. Despite product shortages, the player managed to purchase 22 random packs from a local game store. While they didn’t find the highly sought-after Elsa, Spirit of Winter card, they did uncover a Maui, Hero to All and a Simba, Returned King, both valued at nearly $400.
Enchantment cards are considered chase cards in Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter, featuring alternative art with a unique Inkwash foil halo treatment. The set includes only 12 cards with this rarity, making them highly desirable among collectors. Due to the scarcity of these cards, their prices have skyrocketed since the set’s soft launch on Aug. 18.
Fortunately, some local game stores have chosen not to take advantage of the product shortages by inflating prices. They have implemented restrictions on the number of packs players can purchase, ensuring more community members have access to the cards. These stores also organize weekly Disney Lorcana league events, where players can earn points through multiplayer casual pods and direct matches using The First Chapter Starter Decks.
Ravensburger, the publisher of Disney Lorcana, has announced that a small stock of The First Chapter products will be available in October. Additionally, a full reprint of the set is scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2024.
