Cloud9 is making waves in the VALORANT scene with its revamped roster for 2024. The organization has secured deals with returning player Anthony “vanity” Malaspina and former G2 breakout star Francis “OXY” Hoang, according to a report from Alejandro “anonimotum” Gomis.
Cloud9 is also keeping Erick “Xeppaa” Bach and standout controller player Jake “jakee” Anderson on the roster. However, there is no mention of the current primary Jett star Nathan “leaf” Orf and his status. Leaf is listed on the Cloud9 books through 2025, but the Americas section of the Global Contract Database has not been updated since September 1.
The reported acquisitions of vanity and OXY come after a series of major changes within the Cloud9 camp. The organization recently parted ways with Zellsis, former IGL runi, and coach mCe. This shakeup followed a disappointing end to the season, with Cloud9 narrowly missing out on reaching Champions through both the Americas playoffs and the LCQ.
Cloud9’s 2023 season started with surprising roster moves when vanity and Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker left the team before the start of the VCT Americas after LOCK//IN. Yay only played seven official matches with Cloud9 before his departure, with only two of those being in an official VCT competition.
In addition to vanity’s return, Cloud9 fans can look forward to the arrival of OXY, who had an impressive year with G2 in NA Challengers despite the team’s struggles in the second half of the season. Notably, OXY’s agent pool primarily consists of Raze and Jett, suggesting that leaf may be leaving Cloud9 before the 2024 season begins.
