Popular content creator Keeoh has responded to the backlash he received for his YouTube series titled “I Turned Valorant into an RPG Game” and has made adjustments to the format.
In the first episode of the series, which was uploaded on September 8th, Keeoh challenged himself to climb through all the ranks in Valorant while being limited to using specific weapons. For example, in the Iron rank, he could only use a knife and no guns. To rank up from Iron, he had to win three consecutive games using only the knife.
However, many players pointed out a major issue with this challenge – smurfing. Keeoh is a Radiant player, the highest rank in the game, which means he had to play in much lower ranks against players who were significantly less skilled. This not only affected the other players’ rank rating in competitive matches but also seemed to ridicule those who were stuck in lower ranks.
After receiving feedback regarding the smurfing issue, Keeoh released a statement on September 11th on Reddit, explaining how he plans to address the problem moving forward. Instead of continuing to smurf in ranked games, he will now use custom games with fans who volunteer to participate in the project. This way, he won’t negatively impact any player’s rank or experience in competitive matches.
Keeoh clarified that everyone who joins these custom games will be aware of the challenge and willingly participate. Although he didn’t explicitly apologize for his previous actions, fans are pleased that he is committed to continuing the entertaining series without negatively affecting other players’ experiences. Keeoh concluded by acknowledging that he is the only one who will suffer from completing this challenging endeavor.
