In the latest patch of VALORANT, players are expressing their dissatisfaction with the ult point nerfs that affected several agents. While Riot’s intentions may seem fair, players are questioning the fairness of the ult point system in overtime.
A Reddit post by a player named fnable69 highlighted the issue, pointing out that all agents only need three points to charge their ultimates in overtime. This undermines Riot’s efforts to balance the game by nerfing powerful ultimates in Patch 7.04.
The player suggested that the points requirement in overtime should be adjusted based on the strength of the ultimates. They proposed that “powerful” ults should require more effort to charge than “below average” ults. For example, agents with ults requiring six points would start overtime with 5/6 points, while those with ults requiring seven or eight points would start with 5/7 or 6/8 points respectively. Finally, agents with ults requiring nine points would start with 6/9 points.
While the community did not fully support the idea of having a single point requirement for a six-point ultimate in overtime, some agreed with the concept of different ult point requirements for different agents in overtime and sudden death scenarios.
It is important to note that most players were against changing the ult point system in VALORANT’s overtime. However, it wouldn’t be surprising if Riot considers a similar approach in the future.
