World of Warcraft tank, Naowh, is taking a break from pushing Mythic+ dungeons this week due to a particularly challenging affix.
On September 11, Naowh expressed his lack of motivation to log into the game and complete Mythic+ keys because of the Sanguine affix. He believes that while the developers have done a great job balancing most of the affixes, Sanguine is in need of a rework.
Sanguine, introduced in Shadowlands, poses a problem mainly for tanks. When enemies are defeated, they leave behind puddles on the ground that damage players and heal any mobs standing in them. Although the affix was adjusted for Dragonflight season two, with puddles now lasting only 12 seconds instead of 20, Naowh still feels it requires further changes.
Naowh suggests a crucial tweak to how the affix works, proposing that the healing effect be changed from a percentage to a flat amount that stops scaling at level 20. This would prevent excessive healing on bosses or special mobs, reducing frustration for players.
Other streamers and players have also shared their thoughts on potential changes to the Sanguine affix. Some suggest limiting mobs’ healing to only 25% of their health, while others propose making mobs immune to damage while in the Sanguine puddles, but without the healing effects.
In response to these suggestions, Echo’s Gingi mentions the importance of adding a delay before the mobs become immune to damage, to avoid situations where players can only kill one mob at a time during Sanguine. Towelliee, another streamer, expresses his dislike for the affix and believes it should have been removed by now, especially considering the number of caster mobs affected by it.
Overall, it seems that the Sanguine affix is outdated and could benefit from an update in the next major patch. It has remained relatively unchanged for years, and its lack of interactivity makes it challenging for the rest of the group while tanks struggle to manage it.
