NetherRealm Studios has announced that the highly anticipated launch of Mortal Kombat 1 will not include the Cross-Play feature. This means that players on different platforms will not be able to matchmake and play together in the game’s online modes. While NetherRealm assured fans that they are working hard to implement Cross-Play post-launch, no specific date was given.
The response from players has been mixed, with some expressing disappointment and others remaining unfazed. Those disappointed believe that the game’s development was rushed, questioning why it is being released without key features. On the other hand, many players are more relaxed about the situation, stating that they will wait for Cross-Play to be added later. Some even mentioned that they would occupy themselves with the game’s story mode while waiting.
Despite this setback, Mortal Kombat 1 remains one of the most highly anticipated games of the year. Along with being a soft reboot of the series, the game will also introduce additional fighters through a Kombat Pack DLC post-launch. This includes guest characters such as Homelander from The Boys, DC’s Peacemaker, and Omni-Man from Invincible. Hopefully, Cross-Play will be implemented before the release of the DLC.
