After months of speculation, Tundra Esports has made a bold move by replacing their support player, Saksa, with the legendary Topson. While this decision has generated excitement among Dota 2 fans worldwide, not everyone is convinced.
In a recent interview with esports.gg, Team Liquid’s miCKe expressed his reservations about the roster change. He believes that the transition of a core player to a support role will not be seamless and will require time to adjust. miCKe acknowledges Saksa’s exceptional skills as a position four player and questions whether Nine, who primarily played as a mid-laner, can match his efficiency in the support role. Despite Nine’s undeniable talent, Saksa’s decade-long experience as a support player cannot be easily replicated.
Although role swaps have occurred in the past, they have become less common in recent years. Nine has been practicing his new role since early August, but it remains to be seen how well he will adapt. However, Tundra and Topson have been dominating Dota 2 scrims, indicating that the TI-winning organization may have already found a winning formula.
Fans won’t have to wait until The International 2023 to witness the new Tundra roster in action. They will make their debut in the $1 million prize pool tournament, DreamLeague Season 21. OG, another team that recently made a significant roster change, will also showcase a new addition during this event.
