The latest trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, released on Sept. 14, gives fans a glimpse of what to expect from the game, including a variety of suits. One suit, in particular, has caught the attention of fans right away.
Fans were quick to notice Tobey Maguire’s symbiote suit from the Spider-Man 3 movie directed by Sam Raimi. While we have seen Tobey’s classic red and blue suits in the original Spider-Man game by Insomniac, this is the first time we get to see the dark version.
Corrupted Peter Parker is undoubtedly one of the most iconic moments from the Raimi movies. It’s thrilling to witness a hero turning villainous, and the abundance of memes featuring evil Tobey speaks for itself.
“I yelled seeing that, not gonna lie. I need this game,” and “I might go into a month-long coma, I don’t know if I can wait this long,” were some of the enthusiastic reactions from fans regarding this suit.
The main question among fans was whether this suit would come with symbiote powers. In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, it seems that a significant part of the gameplay will revolve around using the symbiote suit to fight with multiple tentacles like Venom. However, in the trailer, we see the suit equipped with the Iron Arms power, which was available on the regular suit in the first game.
While it’s not confirmed, it is likely that players will be able to use symbiote powers with any suit in the game once they progress further in the story, similar to how they could use any powers with any suit in the first Marvel’s Spider-Man.
The trailer also showcased numerous new customization options and introduced new characters, potentially including an unannounced villain. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be available on PS5 and is set to release on Oct. 20, 2023.
