According to statistics shared by CS:GOstats.gg on Sept. 15, Mirage and Inferno are the top choices for CS2 players in Premier mode. Premier, a competitive mode with a unique rating system and pick-and-ban phase, has gained popularity since its addition to the CS2 beta on Aug. 31.
Out of all seven maps, Mirage stands out as the most popular with a pick rate of 27.12 percent, closely followed by Inferno at 21.44 percent. This data is based on Premier matches played from Sept. 1 to 7.
It’s no surprise that Mirage is a favorite among CS2 players, as it has been one of the most played maps throughout the 11-year lifespan of CS:GO. Similarly, Inferno has also garnered popularity in CS:GO, and Valve has done an excellent job with its CS2 version. Interestingly, despite occasional calls for an overhaul of Mirage on social media platforms, the data shows that players still love the map.
While Overpass and Nuke are still decently picked in CS2, players tend to avoid Vertigo, Ancient, and particularly Anubis (with a pick rate of only 4.07 percent) between Sept. 1 and 7. Some players have expressed their dissatisfaction with Anubis, stating that every time they played it, the experience was negative.
Many players prefer Mirage and Inferno due to their familiarity and the fact that they don’t require extensive knowledge of grenades and callouts. Even if players only know a few smokes on these maps, they still have a good chance of winning matches because of their well-designed layouts.
If players wish to experience all seven maps in the Active Duty map pool, they may need to queue with at least two friends to have control over the pick-and-ban phase. This allows for a more diverse gameplay experience.
