Former Manchester United player Mason Greenwood has been reinstated in the EA Sports franchise, EA FC 24, after a two-year absence. Greenwood was removed from FIFA 22 following his arrest on charges of attempted rape and assault, which were later dropped due to the withdrawal of key witnesses and new evidence. Despite proclaiming his innocence throughout, Manchester United initially faced backlash for considering his return. However, they ultimately decided against it and Greenwood signed with LaLiga club Getafe. Although he has yet to make his debut for the Spanish team, EA Sports has confirmed that he will be included in EA FC 24 to accurately reflect active rosters. Unfortunately, Greenwood missed the cut-off date for inclusion in the Ultimate Team mode at launch. Sports Interactive has also announced that Greenwood will be featured in Football Manager 2024. However, concerns have been raised about potential toxicity in the online gaming community, particularly in Ultimate Team, which has previously experienced issues with racist and sexist user-generated content. This concern is amplified by the decision to include both male and female players together in Ultimate Team in EA FC 24.
