Pokémon Go Players Demand Changes to Trading Feature

superadmin

Pokémon Go players are urging Niantic to make long-awaited changes to the trading feature, which has remained unchanged for five years.

Players argue that the current restrictions on trading, such as the need to be physically close to a friend, make the feature pointless. They are calling for Niantic to remove some of these limitations.

Currently, players can only trade with friends who are within 100 meters of them. The range increases as friendship levels improve, but players still find it restrictive and inconvenient.

Special Trades, which involve rare Pokémon, have even more limitations. They require more Stardust and have a daily usage limit.

Players are particularly frustrated when it comes to Best Friends, the highest level of friendship in the game. Despite the effort and time it takes to reach this level, long-distance trades are not allowed.

Many players believe that long-distance trades should be permitted for Best Friends, as it would give them a reason to maintain these friendships beyond gift exchanges.

Niantic has not made any significant changes to the trading feature since its introduction in 2018. There have been temporary tests where the range was increased, but these changes were not permanent.

You aren’t even able to utilize the sole feature of lucky friends.” They pointed out the frustration of having long-distance Best Friends and Lucky Friends without being able to utilize the main feature.
“Like the one special trade a day, we should get one distance trade a day,” argued another. Another player suggested allowing one long-distance trade per day, similar to the current limit for special trades.
“It would give me a reason to keep best friends as opposed to just having them for gifts,” one player said. A player mentioned that allowing long-distance trades for Best Friends would provide a meaningful reason to maintain these friendships beyond gift exchanges.
