Golgari Midrange Standard Deck, WOE
The Golgari Midrange deck has emerged as a popular and successful new build in the Standard meta. It utilizes powerful cards like Mosswood Dreadnight for early game advantage and card draw. The addition of new Wilds of Eldraine (WOE) cards such as Blossoming Tortoise and Virtue of Persistence//Graveyard Glutton enhance the deck’s synergy. Lord Skitter, Sewer King is also included to counter reanimation strategies involving Atraxa, Grand Unifier and Etali, Primal Conqueror//Etali, Primal Sickness. Notably, Isamu Itou piloted a Golgari Midrange deck to second place at the Japan Open with an impressive record of 8-1-0.
Esper Midrange Standard Deck, WOE
Esper Midrange continues to dominate the Standard meta, but with some new additions from WOE. Peppe achieved an undefeated victory at the Japan Open with this deck. The core cards remain the same, including The Wandering Emperor and Sheoldred, the Apocalypse. However, two copies of Lord Skitter, Sewer King were added to disrupt reanimation decks, along with Dennick Pious Apprentice. Additionally, three copies of Virtue of Loyalty//Ardenvale Fealty, one of the standout WOE Enchantments, were included.
Mono-Red Aggro Standard Deck, WOE
Mono-Red Aggro has made a strong impact on the meta since the release of WOE. Two versions of this deck reached the top eight at the Japan Open, and another version finished eighth at The Pizza Box Open. Yuu Nonn piloted the Mono-Red Aggro deck to a third-place finish at the Japan Open with an impressive 8-1-0 record. While the majority of the deck remains unchanged, WOE introduced significant cards that improved its overall performance. Charming Scoundrel, a solid two-drop with Haste and modal options, was added. Additionally, Goddric, Cloaked Reveler, a three-drop with Haste and the new WOE mechanic Celebration, enhances the deck by creating a 4/4 Flying dragon token with a power-boosting activated ability.
Fans and players can witness the unfolding of the best-of-three Standard format meta at the MTG World Championship in Vegas from September 22nd to 24th.
