CS2 players are outraged by the harsh penalties they face, which result in an unfair disadvantage even before the match begins. Despite not playing a single round, players who lose a teammate at the start of their match still suffer an Elo loss.
The issue arises when certain players abandon the game once the map has been decided and everyone starts connecting to the server. This leaves the rest of the team in a four-vs-five situation, with limited options of either enduring a challenging match or surrendering quickly.
Unfortunately, choosing to surrender comes with its own consequences, as players experience an Elo reduction. The community has united in demanding that Valve introduce a remake feature, similar to what has been available in VALORANT for years.
The problem seems to stem from the introduction of CS2’s Premier game mode, where both teams have a map-veto system that requires teammates to ban specific maps until they agree on one. Currently, this is the only way to queue for official server matches.
A similar issue was observed in CS:GO, where players would leave once the match began, causing problems in the early stages. It appears that this problem persists in CS2’s beta version.
Players have called for stricter punishments for those who leave at the very start of the game, suggesting six-hour bans and subsequent reductions for repeat offenders. While this may seem severe, players believe it would effectively convey the message.
As CS2 is still in beta, it is likely that we will see numerous changes in the coming weeks. Considering that Valve has already incorporated some ideas from VALORANT, players may eventually get the features they desire.
