Low-ranked solo queuers are being matched against some of the highest ranks in VALORANT, leading to cries for an MMR reset. Players as low as Bronze are being placed in lobbies with Ascendants, resulting in unbalanced matches.
One particular match showcased a team with five different ranks, including the two highest ranks queuing together. The Ascendant player dominated the game, highlighting the disparity in skill levels. This has prompted players to request changes to the ranking system.
The community suggests that an MMR reset could be the solution to realigning ranks. While this may upset some players, it could address the current matchmaking issues. Additionally, players propose revealing hidden MMR rankings to provide more transparency in the matchmaking process.
VALORANT currently utilizes both RR and MMR systems, with only RR visible to players. The inclusion of MMR in matchmaking may contribute to the mismatched lobbies observed. Players argue that the current system is “broken” and urge Riot Games to investigate the cause of these imbalanced matches.
This matchmaking discrepancy brings together players with different mindsets. A relaxed Bronze player may not mesh well with an Ascendant striving for the highest rank in VALORANT. If this issue persists, lower-ranked players will continue to face overwhelming challenges against top-tier opponents.
